What is the Science Education Initiative Fellowship?

The Science Education Initiative (SEI) Fellowship aims to train the next generation of transformative science and math educators in India. SEI Fellows bring a world-class Science and Math education to low-income Indian classrooms. Piloted at Fergusson College by Fergusson Alumni - Abhilash Mishra and Priya Kakkar, the Fellowship selects, trains and places motivated science undergraduates and graduates as part-time Science and Math teachers in government schools. Our Fellows deliver instruction in Marathi, English, and Hindi.

Since 2013, SEI has trained over 200 fellows who have taught more than 4000 students. For the new term beginning June 2018, SEI will be expanding to 180 classrooms placing over 100 fellows in Pune. Applications for next term open from 1st December 2017. SEI will be organizing talks at Fergusson College where founders and fellows will talk about the mission of SEI as well as the application process.
